Power lunch at Main Street Bistro with good company @mauiunderground and @thewinecastle

Chef Tom Selman has a bistro menu and atmosphere that can only be found in Wailuku.

Rolling Rock for $3 and Boddingtons

The salads are great. Chef Selman's dressings are delicious, they never overtake the proteins and greens he serves. I ordered the chopped salad, only because I had not done so before.

Cass' pasta looks so good. But i was never forward enough to request a taste. Ashleigh got beet salad.

Fat cat snoring at my feet, cherish you

In all honesty he is a grump. Obsessed with food and snacks (how can i say that is a personality flaw when i am the same?), he scratches all the kids viciously, and terrorizes the dogs for fun. But at the moment, snoring at my feet in a box, he is so cute and peaceful.

Paris Hilton digs Taste of Maui's Dining Discounts, faithful @mauitime reader

I love this pic of Paris on OMG by yahoo.

"The embattled hotel heiress is snapped with a smoothie during her Hawaiian getaway."

Awww, paps can't leave her alone, especially after her recent bust. But its nice that she comes to Maui to forget the stress of the fast life.

I hope she got to taste more than just a smoothie while she was here. She can call me anytime to get the scoop on where to eatdrinkeat. She is obviously a staunch MauiTime fan and I respect that. But what is up with the hat?

Ladies luncheon: Milagros is hitting the spot

Chicken greek salad w tupelo honey dressing is amazing, the onions, fresh greens, crisp cukes, and feta are transporting me to greece.

My sis was craving the hand rolled taquitos with beef. They are crisp and perfectly spiced.

Lisa got the salmon salad over spinach. One of the best slabs of salmon ever.

Join This Effort: Kanu Hawaii Campaign: Eat Local 2010

Commitment #12 of 93 - I will walk, bike, or catch the bus at least once per week instead of riding or driving in a car.

What would be the impact if every Kanu member said yes to I will walk, bike, or catch the bus at least once per week instead of riding or driving in a car.? Over the course of a year, our commitments will reduce CO2 emissions by 3,625.7 tons. The impact is equivalent to planting 3167 trees.

Kanu Hawaii challenges you to eat local during the week of September 26 to October 2!

Why? Hawaii's food supply is extremely vulnerable due to strained farmers, deteriorating infrastructure, and heavy dependence on imports. If barge and air freight to Hawai‘i were interrupted, our islands' food supplies would last only 12-14 days. Processed and packaged imports are also less healthy than fresh locally-grown food, and yet local agriculture continues to shrink.

Take the challenge: Commit to an action below in support of a healthy, sustainable, secure food system. We'll help you get started by posting recipes, guides, and deals from our restaurant and market partners.

Spread the word: Share a recipe, brag about the meal you just made (with photo proof!), and spread the word on a local eating deal by posting a quick journal.

I think this initiative is amazing. If we could all get involved it would make such a mind blowing impact.

Skip the rum fantastic: Fresh lilikoi hurricanes rock me like a...test bar is open tonight

I am in rum nirvana. Thank you to marissa meyer, mother of two, for the suggestion. So now I know The hurricane is from New Orleans, from way before Katrina, BTW. Second fact: they easily morph into polynesian island drink. I made mine w Jarritos Lime, my own brown sugar syrup, fresh squeezed lime, the meat of 2 fresh lilikoi, Maui Rum Platinum, and Bruddah Kimos Da Bomb 151.
