Maui Bake Shop to re-open on Vineyard St. Hello Windmill Pastry, How I Missed You #mauifood

As much as I am saddened by the recent closings in wailuku, i am very excited to see Maui Bake Shop opening. For years colleague Sam Campos and I were woo'd by the French music and amazing French pastries made by Jose and Claire Crall. The windmill was a puff pastry and custard pastry that was amazing with their tres French cappucinos. I can only hope it makes a comeback. Also good, their croque monsieur sandwich. I have not confirmed that Jose or Claire will be back, however my snooping in the windows has revealed they are there. Big changes in their set up, their dining room has a new look, counters are moved around, and there is new seating for customers. Good news for us francophiles.

I will keep you posted as I stalk the place.

Yippie! When? Please tell me!

Same sign still hangs, but they've been closed since around September '09.

Major renovations?

The demise of Unisan/Kau Kau Tin, next door...

It may be #buybachthebeach but after all I'm at @oldlahainaluau. My fav plate Craig Masuda's Hawaiian classic

Congratulations to all the chef's memorable and delicious creations. My top tasting plate was Craig Masuda from Old Lahaina Luau. His Hawaiian plate won my tongue and tummy over with smoky roasted sweet purple potato, kalua pork, mahi mahi, tako and ahi poke and poi.

The poke was incredible, glossy seasoned cubes mixed withgreen onion, llimu and shoyu. The tako was fresh, tender and spicy. It snaps in the mouth. Their poi is so good the perfect balance of sour and sweet and wonderful on the kahlua pig.

Chef Joey Macadangdang from Roy's made Crispy Shiso Ahi!

The poi is so Ono!

Old Lahaina Luau's salad buffet included Seafoods and sushi.

Ivan Pak rocks the tempura short rib laulau #buybackthebeach

Everyone at my table couldn't get enough of Chef Pak's short rib. A chick of tender boneless rib tempura fried and nestled in a poi truffle sauce.

The Sansei station was popular. Maui Film festivals Barry Rivers was there, Tony Takitani, Lance Holter, and Jonathan Starr were all tasting here. Also Neil Abercrombie, running for Governor of our proud state was a fan of the rib.

Awesome grinds at buy back the beach

So far this culinary adventure is giving back already (to my tastebuds). Chef James McDonald has a taro leaf wrapped roast chicken with a coconut milk sauce.

These folks are picking up Chef Sidney Sheldon's pohole fern salad.

Chef Sheldon from Star Noodle made Noodles, also known a fun in chinese.

Chef Ellman's shrimp wraps, broke the mouth.
